Courtney’s Travels

Hi all,

When I was in seminary, I interned for the World Council of Churches in the Ecumenical Office of the United Nations. Connecting with all sorts of Christians advocating for human rights in such an exciting space was crucial to my theological formation, while also strengthening my own Presbyterian identity. Since then, I have continued to engage with the ecumenical movement, connecting with the World Student Christian Federation in the United States and representing the PCUSA at a celebration of the World Council of Churches’ Decade in Solidarity with Women.

Now, I have another opportunity to continue to learn and grow within the ecumenical movement. For the next two and a half weeks, I will be at the Global Ecumenical Theological Institute. I am one of 130 young and emerging ecumenical theologians from across the world who will be exploring the theme “Christ’s Love (Re)moves Borders.” The institute takes place alongside the World Council of Churches’ 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany. We will be studying various topics to go along with the theme, focusing on unity and reconciliation.

Already, over the last four weeks, I have been participating in the online phase, zooming with a small group of the participants from Europe, Africa, and North America.

My prayer is that the next few weeks will be full of opportunities to learn from a diverse group of Christians from around the world. I look forward to sharing my experiences with BPC in the year to come.

Peace in Christ,

Courtney
