Kids/Youth
From their participation on Sunday morning to their service in the communities in which we live, children and youth hold an important place in the ministry and mission of BPC.
A speech from one of our youth:
“Hi, my name is Julia Boyland and I’m a freshman at Fox Lane HIgh School. For about four years, I have been attending the youth group here. When I first started coming to youth group, there were about eight people who would regularly attend. Now, there’s over thirty. The main reason I like going to youth group is because of the people. Mrs. DiBiasi makes it a warm and welcoming environment, whether you’re going for the first time or the fiftieth time. All of the kids that participate in the youth group are very supportive of each other and are fun people to be around. It doesn’t matter what faith you belong to either, since youth group is not religious in any way. We do many community service projects, such as the Midnight Run, working at Neighbor’s Link, and partnering with the ESP. While we like to help out everyone in our community, we also like to bond as a group. When we aren’t at a soup kitchen or visiting an assisted living facility, we spend time getting to know each other through different activities.”
“This past Friday, I went on the Midnight Run for the second time. It’s amazing how different someone’s life could be compared to mine. Going on trips like these makes me look at my life from a different perspective and really appreciate everything that I have. I look forward to going again next year. If you have a son or daughter in sixth through twelfth grade, they are eligible to participate in the youth group here. It’s a great way to gain community service hours and make new friends. It runs every other Friday and The Middle School Youth Group is from 7 pm to 8:45 pm. High School Youth Group is from 9 pm to 11 pm. Thank you!”
